how to spot a scam

We recommend following these steps to ensure your safety:

Confirm HTTPS

If you do click a link from an email or message, check if the “HTTP” in the address bar ends with an “S.”
The “S” indicates a secure connection (this doesn’t guarantee legitimacy, only security of information)

Check for Mismatched URLs

Phishers often use similar-looking URLs to trick you into clicking.
Hover your mouse (without clicking) over URLs to see if the text matches the actual address it’s sending you to.

Beware of Unsolicited Communication

Be wary of emails or messages you didn’t expect to receive (like a WhatsApp message claiming to have a job offer for you!
If you weren’t anticipating it, double-check that it’s legitimate.

Watch Out for Urgency & Fear Tactics

Phishing emails often try to create a false sense of urgency, making claims like “your account will be suspended” or “you’re about to be charged a $500 recurring fee.”
They may also use fear tactics to pressure you into taking action.

Catch Spelling and Grammatical Errors

Phishing emails and messages often contain mistakes, whereas reputable organizations have professional communication standards.

Verify with the Source

If you receive a request for sensitive information or action, independently verify the request.
Call the organization or open a new browser window and type in the official web address rather than clicking on links in the email

There has been no data breach inside Arctic Leaf. Your information hasn’t been compromised, and we plan to keep it that way.
